ISLAMABAD -- Jamaat-e Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq hascalled upon the federal govern ment to reconsider its decisionof setting November 1 deadlinefor the eviction of illegalAfghan refugees residing inPakistan.

In a statement made onSaturday, Haq emphasised thedeep-rooted ties betweenAfghanistan and Pakistan,likening the relationship to thatof twin brothers who share thesame culture and religion.

Speaking at a meeting ofJamaat-e-Islami's Committeeon Afghan Affairs held at Al-Markaz-ul-Islami Peshawar, Haq addressed the simmeringtensions between the Pakistani and Afghan governments, stem ming from the ultimatum given to illegal refugees to leave Pakistanpromptly.

Haq stressed the importance of both nations working collabora tively to create a comprehensive plan for the smooth evacuation ofAfghan refugees. He cautioned against hasty decisions that couldexacerbate existing problems and widen differences between thetwo sides.
