(METROPOLITAN) Aurangzeb moves ATC for acquittal in anti-state speech case.

LAHORE -- Former information minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday filed a plea in an anti-terrorism court (ATC) for dismissal of a case registered against her for an anti-state speech.

The Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader appeared in the court of judge Abhar Gul Khan. The former minister contended in her application that she had no role in the talk show and was not responsible for the conversation in the programme.

Marriyum requested the court that she be acquitted in the case. Later, the court adjourned hearing for November 11.

Talking to media after appearing before the court, Marriyum said that people from across Pakistan travelled to Lahore to welcome Nawaz Sharif.

She thanked the people who welcomed their leader. "Only Nawaz Sharif can pull the country out of crises," she added. The PML-N leader claimed that the country was thrown into chaos for removing only one person from power in 2017.
