Marriyum launches 'Planet Champs' app to save mother earth.

ISLAMABAD -- Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday launched 'Planet Champs' application to protect mother earth by raising awareness among the children on climate, water and energy conservation as well as on proper disposal of waste.

'The Planet Champ has been launched in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif who while chairing the federal cabinet meeting has accorded approval for a comprehensive awareness campaign on energy, water and environment conservation in the country,' the minister said while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the application.

The minister, accompanied by a first registered batch of the 'Planet Champs', also unveiled its maiden promo which illustrated its theme on planet conservation through the engagement of younger generation.

On the occasion, she congratulated Secretary Information and Broadcasting Shahera Shahid, Pakistan Television (PTV) Managing Director Sohail Ali Khan and staff of the national TV which played an active role in the development of the application and its concept.

'I am delighted to announce that the PTV has restored its legacy of producing children's content which includes awareness raising programmes like Planet Champs,' the minister said while highlighting main features and functioning of the application.

She said the user-friendly application was open for all in the country and anyone who wanted to contribute in protecting the mother earth could register themselves instantly. The application included a scorecard of energy and water conservation as well as waste disposal.
