Malakand transporters threaten strike over 'illegal' taxes.

SWAT -- Transporters from across the Malakand division have warned of a massive wheel-jam strike if the government doesn't withdraw 'illegal taxes' imposed on them.

They made the warning during a jirga held in Mingora on Sunday and attended by office-bearers of All United Transporters Federation, Malakand division, and tehsil-level transporters' associations.

On the occasion, federation's Malakand chairman Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, president Khaista Bacha, former Babuzai tehsil nazim Ikram Khan, and presidents of transporters' bodies from other districts also demanded stoppage of 'illegal interference' in the functioning of the bus stands by the contractors and the tehsil municipal administrations.
