Let common sense prevail India!

Byline: Saman Hamid

Common sense dictates that whenever something bad happens anywhere one has to look at external factors as well as internal factors. In case of Organizational failures, intelligence failures it is very important for people to know the concept of accountability, success and failure. Time and time again Indians have defied logic and have only beaten the trumpet of terrorism and not looked at factors that could have prevented the mishap in the first place. In case of Pulwama, hardly any name surfaced that had to resign or someone in the government was held responsible. The ensuing drama only served to expose the ailing Indian military and their aging equipment at the hands of the very nation they outspends Pakistan by billions. Senior Congress Leader Mr. Ahmed Patel highlighted this at the eve of the Maoist attack in Kaharashtra's Gadchiroli, saying, 'despite its 'tall talk' no lessons from Pulwama have been have been learnt', he added that the country needs preventive action, accountability for this failure and not 'jumlas' (rhetoric) and lectures. Needless to say no matter how many economic realities dictate the global attitude especially that of US, Japan and other countries towards India and in the wake of CPEC, centuries of human rights violations cannot be escaped. Even with JeM's listing can a 'list' be made for every single Kashmiri man, women and children struggling for their basic human rights? Post Burhan Wani things have changed dramatically and in terms of the popular opinion in India, the Hindu nationalism/patriotism card the Modi tries to play again and again have only back fired so far.
