Lahore High Court issuesguidelines for fool-proof reporting mechanism.

ISLAMABAD -- The Bahawalpur benchof the Lahore High Court (LHC) onWednesday issued a set of guidelines toensure proper maintenance of policerecords when obtaining remand foraccused individuals.

This development came after a petitionwas filed in court against police officials'negligence.

Justice Muhammad Tariq Nadeem direct ed that a copy of this order be sent to theInspector General of Police (Punjab), theDirector General of the Anti-CorruptionEstablishment (Punjab), and the DirectorGeneral of the FIA, with instructions toestablish a proper mechanism based onthe guidelines outlined below:1. A case diary should include the FirstInformation Report (FIR) number andserial number at the bottom of the page.2. There should be a register of the casediary, duly signed by the SHO at the timeof issuing papers.3. Police departments should maintain and provide a case diary register with serial numbers allocated to allpolice stations in the district.4. Serial numbers of case diaries should be mentioned on thereverse of the FIR along with...
