India conveys Canada to withdraw 41 diplomats.

ISLAMABAD -- India has told Canadathat it must repatriate 41 diplomats byOctober 10, the Financial Times reportedon Tuesday.Ties between India and Canada havebecome seriously strained over Canadiansuspicion that Indian government agentshad a role in the June murder in Canada ofa Sikh separatist leader and Canadian citi zen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who India hadlabelled a "terrorist". India has dismissedthe allegation as "absurd".

The Financial Times, citing people famil iar with the Indian demand, said India hadthreatened to revoke the diplomaticimmunity of those diplomats told to leavewho remained after October 10.Canada has 62 diplomats in India andIndia had said that the total should bereduced by 41, the newspaper said. TheIndian and Canadian foreign ministriesdid not immediately respond to requestsfor comment.Indian Foreign Minister SubrahmanyamJaishankar said earlier there was a "cli mate of violence" and an "atmosphere 34% decrease in the number of attacks compared to August, butthere was a 21% increase in the number of deaths and a significant66% rise in injuries, the data shows.
