In a first, left lung lower lobectomy surgery performed in the AJK.

ISLAMABAD -- In a momentous medical achievement, the first successful left lung lower lobectomy surgery was performed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), resulting in the complete recovery of the patient. Renowned Cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr Ikramul Haq Chaudhary, carried out the procedure at the Ali Medical Institute in Muzaffarabad. Dr Chaudhary revealed that within the past three weeks of October, he conducted a total of 14 chest surgeries, with the left lower lobectomy of the lung marking a significant milestone in the medical history of AJK. The patient who underwent the innovative surgery had been experiencing severe symptoms, including persistent coughing with blood, leading to the expulsion of more than two cups of blood daily. The patient's family had been informed by other medical professionals that there was no further treatment available. "We successfully addressed the source of bleeding during the surgery.

The patient was extubated on the operating table, and the recovery has been an impressive 100 percent," Dr Chaudhary added. He emphasised that the groundbreaking procedure was the first of its kind in AJK.
