Imran Khan and Putin hold informal meeting on sidelines of SCO summit.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday held an informal meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a dinner hosted by the Kyrgyzstan president in honour of heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

Imran arrived in Kyrgyzstan earlier in the day to attend the 19th meeting of the Council of the Heads of State (CHS) of the SCO being held in Bishkek.

Sources said that during the dinner hosted by Kyrgyzstan President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Imran Khan and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi entered the hall together, but did not greet each other.

The prime minister, however, shook hands with heads of other states, the sources said, adding that Imran and Modi sat in different corners of the hall.

Earlier, upon his arrival in Bishkek, Imran was received by Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev and Kyrgyz Minister for Health Kosmosbek Sarievich Cholponbaev. Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, who will chair the CHS meeting, had extended the invitation to the prime minister to attend the two-day summit.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and the PM's Special Assistant on Youth Affairs Usman Dar accompanied the prime minister.

According to details of the prime minister's visit, a number of decisions will be approved by the leaders along with the signing of agreements to intensify cooperation in diverse fields.
