Court issues notices over toxic gas leak.

KARACHI -- The Sindh High Court (SHC) sought on Thursday the replies from parties on a plea pertaining to deaths caused by the toxic gas leak in Keamari.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro and Justice Irshad Ali Shah heard the petition requesting probe into the incident and to seeking the payment of compensation to the victims' families.

Keamari Port Trust (KPT) officials, and others, appeared in the court while counsels for the parties submitted power of attorney.

The petitioner's lawyer, Advocate Irfan Aziz, argued that poisonous gas emissions in Keamari caused the loss of many valuable lives. He maintained that reports from the University of Karachi and other relevant institutions on the emission of toxic gas...
