Brig (retd) Ijaz Shah assumes charge as interior minister.

ISLAMABAD -- Brigadier (retd) Ijaz Shah assumed office as the country's new security czar, less than a day after Prime Minister Imran Khan made major changes to his eight-month-old federal cabinet.

The portfolio was earlier held by the premier while Shehryar Afridi was made the minister of state for interior. Afridi's portfolio was changed to the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions.

The former soldier is a member of the National Assembly from the constituency of NA-118 (Nankana Sahib-II).
