Attack from Afghanistan leaves 3 soldiers martyred, 7 injured Troops were busy in fencing Pak-Afghan border in NW; Pakistan lodges strong protest with Afghan Government.

Peshawar -- Pakistani troops busy in fencing the Pak-Afghan border in North Waziristan tribal district came under attack from hostile Afghanistan on Wednesday that resulted in the martyrdom of at least three soldiers and serious injuries to seven others, an act which the Pak army strongly denounced calling upon the Afghan authorities to have effective control in border region to support Pakistan's efforts as well as deny use of Afghan soil against Pakistan. The Pakistani government has also lodged strong protest with the Afghan government over this naked aggression.

Reports as confirmed by the military authorities said a group of 60 to 70 terrorists from bases in Afghanistan ambushed Pakistani Army troops busy in fencing along the Pak-Afghan border in Alwara, North Waziristan Wednesday morning.

Though the valiant jawaans of Pakistan Army responded quickly and effectively repulsed the attack, the exchange of fire between the troops and the aggressors, left at least three soldiers martyred and seven others seriously wounded. The attackers, however, managed to flee after committing the crime. There are reports about huge losses on part of the fleeing assaulters as the Pakistani troops moved down scores of attackers and injured several others.

The martyred soldiers have been identified as Lance Naik Ali, Lance Naik Nazir and Sepoy Imdad Ullah.
