Ali Raza Abidi's guard taken into custody as police launches investigation.

KARACHI -- Syed Ali Raza Abidi's guard was taken into custody on Wednesday to investigate the former Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) MNA's assassination, Express News reported.

Officials revealed that the guard was deployed outside Abidi's house in Karachi's Defence Housing Authority (DHA) neighbourhood. The police are investigating whether the incident was an outcome of a personal dispute or a political or religious falling-out, SSP South Pir Mohammad Shah said.

Former lawmaker Abidi was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Tuesday night. Armed motorcycle riders opened fire on his vehicle outside his residence at Khayaban-e-Ghazi in DHA Phase-V, SSP Shah added.
