6% Pakistanis vs 14% global people suffered violence last year: Survey.

KARACHI -- WIN World Survey, an association of survey firms, said in its report that 14% respondents over the world say that they have suffered from physical or psychological violence in the past year. This is a series of polls being released in honor of International Women's Day, celebrated on the 8th of March every year.

A sample of 29,368 men and women from 40 countries across the globe was asked, "Have you suffered from any kind of violence either physical or psychological in the past year?" 14% of the respondents said they had suffered physical or psychological violence, while 83% said they had not, while 3% said they did not know or did not respond.

Results for Pakistan: A lower proportion of Pakistanis, 6%, reported to have suffered violence in the past year, while 88% said they did not. Note: Considering the sensitivity of the topic and stigma surrounding it, the reported figure is likely to be much lower than the actual number of people who have experienced sexual harassment.

Global gender breakdown: Analysis on the basis of gender shows that a slightly higher proportion of females (16%) report to have suffered violence in the past year compared to males (12%).
