Zohaib ends 2021 with 11 titles, vows to increase numbers in 2022.

Pakistan emerging tennis star Zohaib Afzal Malik of SA Gardens has played tremendous tennis throughout the year 2021 and succeeded in winning 11 national titles and he is eager to increase the number of titles in 2022.

In an interview with The Nation, Zohaib, a bright student of LGS DHA Phase V, said: 'I am very glad to finish the year 2021 with 11 gold medals, earned by winning national championships while I am also keen to win more than 11 national titles this year in my respective age group categories. I am more determined and passionate to achieve this target, for which I will further work harder under the able guidance of my coach Muhammad Khalid.

'I am also grateful to my physical trainer Muhammad Arshad for improving my over-all athletic abilities which helped me achieve this milestone. I am also thankful to my partner Abu Bakar (No 1 seed, U12), who always encourages and motivates me to further excel,' he added.

'I clinched the first title of 2021 by winning U-12 doubles title in the BoP Junior National Championship, then grabbed U-12 singles and doubles titles in KC Indus Pharma National Tennis. My winning streak continued and finally got my 11th national title by winning U-12 and U-14 doubles titles in the 10th Essa Lab National Tennis Championship in Karachi. I also lifted three runner-up trophies in national events and was in the squad of ITF U-12 team representing Pakistan,' he elaborated.
