Woman attacked with acid by brother.

BAHAWALPUR -- A man along with four associates tortured and threw acid on his sister in Mubarakpur's Ismail Town, about 40 kilometres from here, on Friday night.

According to police, Zakia Mushtaq was cooking in her kitchen when her brother Sajid and his associates Imran, Ata, Nazir and Usman barged in the house. They allegedly tortured her during which her leg and arm were fractured and threw acid on her face, and fled from the scene.

Police said that on receipt of information, they reached the scene and shifted Zakia to Mubarakpur Rural Health Centre.

She told police that about three months ago her brother Sajid and the four suspects had abducted her and since then were pressurising her to withdraw the kidnap case against them. Now, in connivance with her brother they had allegedly thrown acid on and tortured her.

Police registered a case against the attackers, but no arrests had been made so far.

Zakia was later shifted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) where doctors said that her face was damaged from the acid attack and was being treated.
