Windy Moon”

An intriguing and unique exhibition opened at the Mongolian National Modern Art Gallery on July 22. The exhibition, titled “Windy Moon”, was the artist, D.Ankhbayar’s first solo exhibition. The exhibition included amazing sculptures and an installation. He broached sensual themes and created erotic sculptures, such as the scarlet-colored “Mood”, “Sex” and “Brave”, cast in bronze, and “Cell” and “Yamandag” made with steel. Let’s learn more in an interview with D.Ankhbayar.

-How many artworks have you displayed in your unique exhibition?

-Sixteen sculptures and one installation total in my exhibition. Sculptures with an erotic theme and made with steel, bronze and wood, are included.

-Why are the colors so bright?

-For color, I studied some history and reflect what I’ve learned in my artwork. I heard that some artists colored their artwork using red vermilion. I got the idea from that and colored wood sculptures red. For my bronze sculpture, I created it in its classic color.

-You made your installation for people living in our society?

-Yes. It is just a well in the Gobi. But today, wells are becoming empty. Everyone is looking for...
