Webinar China-US Relations: Emerging Trends and Future Perspectives.

Centre for BRI and China Studies- Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies, in collaboration with the Riphah Institute of Public Policy, organized a thought-provoking webinar on the topic of "China-US Relations: Emerging Trends and Future Perspectives." The webinar aimed to provide valuable insights given the complexity and sensitivity surrounding the relationship between these two global powers. The webinar featured a distinguished lineup of experts, professionals, and analysts in the field of International Relations.

These experts brought their extensive expertise and knowledge on China-US relations, offering valuable insights into this critical bilateral relationship's current challenges, opportunities, and future perspectives. The panelists engaged in an in-depth analysis of the emerging trends in China-US relations. They explored various aspects, including trade dynamics, economic interdependence, geopolitical competition, ideological differences, and regional implications. The discussions provided a comprehensive understanding of the evolving dynamics and shed light on the complexities of this relationship. Dr. Farhat Asif, President of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS), presided over the "China-US Relations: Emerging Trends and Future Perspectives" webinar and delivered the opening remarks.

Dr. Asif introduced the panelists and discussed the rationale behind organizing the event, which stems from the numerous challenges and events occurring between the United States and China, particularly in the global arena where strategic and economic competition is prominent. A sense of surge and tensions marks the current atmosphere, and there is a keen focus on significant developments, such as Secretary Blinken's visit to Beijing. Dr. Asif emphasized the relevance of a special committee in the US Congress that is primarily centered on the Chinese Communist Party, focusing on addressing issues related to building relations and competition.

Professor Cheng Xizhong, Senior Fellow of the Charhar Institute and visiting professor at the Southwest University of Political Science and Law and the Director of the Chinese Association for South Asian Studies, drew attention to the increasing military provocations by the United States in the region, citing frequent intrusions into China's territorial waters and airspace and the provision of advanced weapons to Taiwan.
