Profile of Sarim Burney:

Mr. Sarim Burney was born in Karachi on 2nd December 1970. He started human rights work in 1990 at age of 20. Being involved in social work, he saw and experienced unease, concerns and sufferings of the people which inspired him to establish organization/ trust to address the anxieties of the down trodden and oppressed segment of society.

In fact Mr. Sarim Burney tried to find out a way to bring about awareness among people about their legal rights, and for that purpose he practically visited different places and studied the cases. During this period he realized that the organization/trust should consider the problems and worries of the people without discrimination, caste, color and creed. He mostly worked to bring the people together of different communities and to make them aware that their problems can only be resolved and properly settled if they work collectively for their legitimate rights, guaranteed by the law and the constitution of the country. After doing that, the people from different walks of life started coming and visiting the office of Sarim Burney Welfare Trust International for redressal of their grievances. In fact Mr. Burney saw and learnt from his mother and got inspiration to help and support other people around and this inspiration encouraged him to start non governmental, non political and non profitable organization for these achievements.

Mr. Burney always raises his voice against the injustice and present legal system where the people are deprived of their fundamental rights. The trust has made tremendous success in different areas particularly camel jockeys, women trafficking, disaster reliever and legal assistance. Similarly Mr. Sarim Burney is also working for missing persons at his own and also on the approach of family members of the missing persons. On the direction of Mr Sarim Burney, the professional legal team of lawyers approach different courts filing the petitions for this purpose and a significant achievement and work has been done in recoveries of missing persons. Apart from this, the people who travel abroad for the sake of employment and earning, where they are unfortunately placed and send to jail for some fault, Mr. Sarim Burney extends his assistance by approaching to the concerned embassies and consulates for their release and a series of cases of these nature are successfully handled.
