Universities must provide access to quality education: KU Vice Chancellor.

KARACHI -- University of Karachi (KU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi has said that the role of higher education institutions is very important for bringing betterment to the society and especially those which fell under the public education sector as this is always the first choice of the masses.

Quality research conducted in the universities should have profound impact on the masses.

Addressing the Karachi University Teachers' Society (KUTS) annual dinner held at the Staff Club, he said that the education should be given according to modern needs and it was only possible when good researches were conducted by the varsities, according to a statement on Tuesday.

The KU Vice Chancellor said that despite the fact that the University of Karachi had very limited resources available, the university was playing very important role in shaping the society by giving quality education to its students.

He said that KUTS had always highlighted problems and issues faced by the teaching community. The varsity's affairs were running smoothly as the administration always took teachers on board before taking any decision and its teachers were performing duties other than teaching which must be lauded.

Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi informed that decisions were made through dialogues with all concerned stakeholders and that was why they were producing fruitful results so far.

KU Vice Chancellor shared that he made sure meeting of academic council, advanced studies and research boards and syndicates should be held on regular basis.
