Unfpa Approves Mongolia Country Program

Mongolia's Country Program document to be implemented between 2017and 2021 was approved on September6, at the second regular session of theExecutive Board of the United NationsPopulation Fund (UNFPA).

The Ambassador Extraordinary andPlenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the UnitedNations, S.Sukhbold, presented aspeech at the executive board session, which closed earlier todayat UN Headquarters in New York City. He noted thatthe previous five country programs ofthe UNFPA launched in Mongolia contributed greatly to supporting population development, maternal and childhealth, and the health of young people.

The focus of the sixth country programis on adolescents in Mongolia, and ongender equality and women's empowerment, which are consistent with Mongolia's 2030 Sustainable DevelopmentGoals, S.Sukhbold noted.
