UAF celebrates World Camel Day.

TOBA TEK SINGH -- The World Camel Day was observed at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) on Wednesday to highlight the camel meat and milk benefit.

The event was arranged by the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Directorate of Farms of the UAF, and the International Goat and Bull Association at the tent pegging ground.

In the national camel weight contest, the camels of Farrukh Ejaz bagged first and second positions with 1,417kg and 1,361kg weight and the camel owned by Babar Malik stood third with 1,280kg weight.

In the camel beauty contest, Hunain's camel stood first, Ejaz's second and Malik Babar's third.

Faculty of Animal Husbandry Dean Dr Qamar Bilal said the camels of different breeds were brought to the UAF from all over the country in order to flourish the camel farming and educate the people about the benefits of camel meat and milk.

He said the livestock sector would reap the full benefits of testing and preserving the quality of the camel breed and its quality.
