TURKMENISTAN-HOME OF NEUTRALITY.

Turkmenistan is one of the most widely respected and considered as the leader in the neutrality policy in the world supporting and upholding the values of peace, prosperity and development . Being at the heart of Central Asia bordering countries like Afghanistan, Iran, Uzbekistan and others, Turkmenistan has come out as state with much respect at the global scale preaching prosperity and peace at the regional and global scale. As a reliable ally of the UN in maintaining peace, stability and cooperation at the international levels, in 2007 UN in collaboration with the Turkmenistan established first United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, having a mandate to liaison with the Governments of the region for preventive diplomacy, monitoring and evaluation, coordinate with the regional organisations and help to share information with each other.

The Centre is maintaining a comprehensive contact with the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan to support, provide analysis and understanding about the regional situation. Each year has been named by Turkmenistan as a special year and a thematic importance is provided to highlight significance of the country's global standing at the national, regional and global level. This is also meant to pay tribute to the leadership of at the country to remain as an guiding star in making the world a better place for the humanity. For instance the year 2019 was the year of the "Turkmenistan- Homeland of Prosperity" and primarily the year was celebrated to promote the golden years and hard work of the people of Turkmenistan especially for moving the country on the roads of prosperity.

Neutrality has remained at the heart-bed of the country's national ethos. It is how the country has been defined by the very fact that it is preaching world peace and humanitarianism. The status of the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan has been recognized by the United Nations General Assembly after passing of resolution recognizing December 12 as the International Day of Neutrality. Over the past more than two decades, Turkmenistan has promoted the culture for dialogue and peace in the region and globe. Turkmenistan has remained the outstanding custodian to the UN charter of hope, peace, togetherness and values of international cooperation. This year's slogan is important to consider when the world is faced with multifaceted challenges including COVI-19.
