Traders fined for overcharging.

HYDERABAD -- In an attempt to give relief to people because of high food inflation, scores of shopkeepers and fruit sellers were fined Rs41,500 in total on Wednesday for overcharging customers and violating price control list fixed by the government, in various markets and bazaars in four tehsils of Hyderabad district.

Price control committees of four tehsils visited 129 units, checked shops and pushcarts vendors at markets and imposed penalties worth Rs41,500 on 24 profiteers on the spot.

They swung into action on special directives of Hyderabad Deputy Commissioner Fuad Ghaffar Soomro on the complaints of artificial price hike in essential commodities being sold during Ramazan.
