Three-year-old injured by metal kite string.

TAXILA -- A three-year-old was injured by kite string while on a motorcycle ride with his grandfather on the G.T. Road in Ahmednagar on Sunday.

The child, Sadeeq Hadi, was with his grandfather Jannat Khan in the limits of the Wah Saddar police. The metal kite string left a deep cut on his face, and he was rushed to thePakistan Ordnance Factories Hospitalin Wah by Rescue 1122 personnel.

'The boy sustained a deep injury on his face as a stray metal kite twine sliced his face,' Malik Yasir, a Rescue 1122 official who helped the boy in the hospital, said. He added that Sadeeq received 42 stitches to control the bleeding, while his grandfather was protected because he was wearing a helmet.

'The doctors discharged him from the hospital after providing treatment,' he said.

The boy's grandfather, Mr Khan, told Dawn he took Sadeeq out for a motorcycle ride before Iftar. He said the doctors told him the child's woundwould not healunless he underwent plastic surgery, which they could not afford.

Mr Khan also criticised the police for failing to control kite flying, saying the local administration has failed to implement the ban on the activity.
