The second International Forum on Democracy: The Shared Human Values took place in Beijing from March 22-23, with attendees from over 100 countries and regions worldwide, including representatives from international organizations. The forum centered around five main themes, which included "Democracy and Sustainable Development," "Democracy and Innovation," "Democracy and Global Governance," "Democracy and the Diversity of Human Civilization," and "Democracy and the Path to Modernization." During the opening ceremony, keynote speakers expressed a shared belief that true democracy is marked by communication, respect, and learning. They also emphasized the importance of diverse democratic systems coexisting in a society dedicated to a shared future for humanity while discussing the sources, types, and efficacy of various democratic models.

The participants expressed their belief that democracy is a universal value for all of humanity and that there are various means of implementing democratic principles. They asserted that the coexistence and interaction of diverse civilizations are crucial for the healthy development of human civilization. All nations should respect the variety of global civilizations, acknowledge the democratic development paths of other countries, foster mutual exchanges and learning, and strive to establish a community for humanity's shared future. The Communist Party of China advocates for and implements people's democracy throughout the entire process, consistently transforming the people's role as the rulers of the nation into a practical and effective institutional arrangement with scientific principles and incorporating realistic democratic practices. The populace enjoys an extensive range of democratic rights, and their participation in democratic processes continues to expand, thereby generating consensus and momentum toward Chinese-style modernization.
