Asymposium on "Women in the SCO space: mutually beneficial cooperation" was organized on March 3 by the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan in association with the SCO Center for Public Diplomacy.

The conference aimed to promote mutual collaboration among the women's institutions of the SCO countries and examine the growing importance of women in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Heads of women's organizations from the SCO countries, representatives from industry, culture, research, and education, as well as the Senate and Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, attended the event.

The importance of gender equality and its effects on economic growth, democratization, and social stability in the SCO states was emphasized by conference attendees.

They also talked about the difficulties women experience in the area and the need to establish legal standards to safeguard and uphold women's rights in SCO member states.

The Plan for achieving gender equality in Uzbekistan until 2030 was cited as an illustration of an effective legal framework to raise women's status.

In this context, the targeted efforts the country has made to support women's leadership, reproductive health, employment, and safety from gender-based violence were acknowledged by the participants.

Furthermore, they highlighted Uzbekistan's effective execution of a housing program for socially vulnerable populations.
