Sri Lankan team may have new coaching staff soon.

KARACHI -- Sri Lankan cricket team which has no regular head coach but only the interim coach in Rumesh Ratnayake may soon have one. The team may have specialists batting, bowling and fielding coaches soon as well. Former England batsman Mark Ramprakash has applied for the post and is in negotiations with the Sri lanka Cricket (SLC), it is learnt here and confirmed by the player also. "Yes, I did register my interest with SLC", speaking exclusively, he said. "He has been in negotiations with the SLC CEO Ashely de Silva", the source aware about the development said. Incidentally, two months ago Ramprakash was one of the shortlisted candidates for the batting coach when he applied with the Indian cricket board and appeared for the interview.

Interest in Ramprakash comes at a time when English coaches appear to be somewhat undervalued at home- though they have appointed Chris Silverwood when South Africa's Gary Kirsten was one among the favourites. The status of England...
