'Spring festival fully sponsored'.

LAHORE -- Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi says the spring festival will be fully sponsored and not a single penny will be spent from the provincial kitty.

Mr Naqvi presided over a meeting here on Sunday to review the arrangements being made for the March 5-12 festival.

He said that all the activities being organised at the week-long festival would be sponsored by private parties and provincial government's resources would not be used for the purpose.

The meeting was told that a Food Fun Mela is being launched at the Jilani Park, where stalls of top 20 food brands would be set up and famous singers, including Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Sahir Ali Bagga, Bilal Saeed, Aima Khan, would perform at a musical show each night at the Lahore Hockey Stadium. Punjabi folk music shows would be held at the Jilani Park.

Mehfil-e-Naat and Sama would also be organised at various shrines in the city, while a marathon race, a 42-km cycle rally, a Digital Journey' Show and an all-women mushaira were also part of the celebrations.
