Ts.elbegdorj Receives Danish Speaker

The President of Mongolia, Ts.Elbegdorj, received on Monday the Speaker of the Danish Parliament (Folketinget), Mogens Lykketoft.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Ts.Elbegdorj conveyed his satisfaction with the friendly relations between Mongolia and Denmark, and expressed his gratitude to the Danish government for promoting Mongolia’s democratic changes from the very start and for implementing many projects here through the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA).

The President said, “This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Denmark. I am pleased to receive the Speaker of the Danish Parliament on the year of this anniversary. Mongolia is interested in boosting cultural, educational, and scientific ties with Denmark. Moreover, there are wide opportunities for Denmark to cooperate with us, such as investing in energy, mining, and the environment.” He then continued, “We want to strengthen our heating system and to introduce Danish Green Technology here. We also have the intention to look into the Danish social protection system and to expand mutual cooperation between auditing firms in the two countries. Mongolia has a great opportunity to use the solar and wind energy. In fact, we are building the first ever wind station in the country.”

In return, Speaker Lykketoft conveyed, “Mongolia and Denmark are developing together.” He then thanked Ts.Elbegdorj for providing a wealth of information on Mongolia.

President Ts. Elbegdorj also said, “In 2011, Mongolia had the highest economic growth of seventeen percent. In 2012, Mongolia was named as the country which reduced corruption at the highest speed.
