According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 77% Pakistanis claim that they do not smoke cigarettes; among those who say they do not smoke, many have relatives or co-workers who do smoke.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, "Do you smoke cigarettes?" In response, 17% said that they do, 77% said that they do not, and a mere 6% said that they did not know or did not wish to respond.

Those who answered in the negative were further asked, "Is there any person in your home or workplace who smokes?" 45% responded yes, 52% said no and 3% did not know or wish to respond.
