Sir Cowasjee Institute to be declared national heritage.

KARACHI -- The culture department's advisory committee which met here on Friday with Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah in the chair recommended inclusion of the Sir Cowasjee Jahangir Institute of Psychiatry (SCJIP), Hyderabad, in the list of national heritage.

'After approval of the proposal by the advisory committee, it will be submitted to the provincial cabinet,' said the chief secretary. The institute was established in 1865 during the British Raj.

The advisory committee's meeting also discussed permission for renovation work for the Homi Katrak Building, another historical structure standing in the heart of Karachi.
