Significant fall in dengue cases in Karachi this year.

KARACHI -- The Sindh Health Department under its Dengue Prevention and Control Program has managed to develop a mechanism leading to significant decline in the incidence of dengue fever in the province, particularly Karachi. Provincial Program Manager for Dengue Prevention and Control, Dr. Abdul Rasheed, addressing a press conference here on Monday, said a division level system has been developed to ensure timely and prompt intervention in case of any possible outbreak. "Since the disease is pecular to urban centres heance special measures have been adopted to not only issue prior warnings to the people but also take prompt actions and prevent any possible outbreak," he said.

Sharing available statistics of disease incidence in Karachi, he said 395 cases of dengue fever have been reported from different districts of Karachi with zero fatality. This was said to be in a scenrio when dengue outbreak is registered between September and January and that current period is that of dengue prevention phase.
