Sheikh Sajjad Hassan Memorial Cup set to light up winter meeting.

LAHORE -- A seven-event card featuring a cup race prominently marks the 12th Lahore Winter Meeting whiAch gets under way here at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

The feature event, the Sheikh Sajjad Hassan Memorial Cup, named after a deceased steward of the Lahore Race Club (LRC), who made sterling contribution to make the club a financially viable racing facility, has ten colts and fillies. It is a term race for two-year-old colts and fillies to be contested over 1,100 metres.

Of them the quartet of colts from different top-rated sires look to be real contenders, namely Jhoom, Sir, Farhan King and Champ. The first two have won a race each on debut, Farhan King was placed second while Champ, considered a prodigious colt, was listed in a term race three weeks ago and was a 30 to 100 favourite but was reluctant to enter the gate hence withdrawn from the contest.
