SHCC issued Annual Performance Statistics, activities were focused on Regularizing Tertiary Care Public/ Private Hospitals, curbing quackery practices and strengthening field force.

KARACHI -- Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) has issued annual performance statistics. SHCC has made substantial progress and showed remarkable performance indicators, despite a magnitude of challenges in improving the healthcare delivery system in Sindh. The authorities confirmed that in a few years to come SHCC will establish firm roots in the healthcare delivery system of the Province.

In the year 2022, Sindh Healthcare Commission focused on the inspection of Public and Private tertiary care hospitals, clinics, matabs, and maternity homes as this sector caters to healthcare needs of more than 50% of the population.

Inspection teams of the commission conducted consecutive inspections to assess the healthcare facilities against Sindh Service Delivery Standards and awarded Provisional Licenses to 60 healthcare establishments upon compliance with the required standards.

For the first time since past many years, SHCC has started inspections for issuing Regular License during year 2022 and awarded the license to 10 major private/public HCEs, including Dow Dental Hospital, Tabba Heart Centre, National Medical Centre, Agha Khan University Hospital (AKUH), Ziauddin Hospitals Clifton and North Nazimabad etc. Public sector hospitals including Liaquat University Hospital Hyderabad and Jamshoro, Sindh Institute of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Shaheed Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto Trauma Center, Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College Hospital Sukkur are a few of the names of public sector hospitals which are under process of assessment for issuance of Regular License.

As far as anti-quackery drive is concerned, SHCC initiated various campaigns in various districts of Sindh. In these drives, SHCC has inspected 1025 hospitals/clinics and sealed 789 quackery outlets.
