SHCBA identifies 'defects' in Sindh succession certificate bill.

KARACHI -- The Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) has urged the provincial governor not to give his assent to the recently-passed Sindh Letters of AdminiAstration and Succession CertiAficates Bill, 2021. The bill be retuArned to the provincial assembly for reconsideration under Article 116(2)(b) of the ConAstitution, the association demanded in a statement issued on Friday.

Prime Minister Imran Khan formally inaugurated an online system for the issuance of administration/succession certificates within 15 days through Nadra at a ceremony held in Islamabad on Thursday.

In their statement, SHCBA president Salahuddin Ahmed and honorary secretary Muhammad Omer Soomro said that the Sindh Assembly recently passed the bill in which major changes had been made to the procedure of obtaining letters of administration/succession certificates required for the transfer of assets of a deceased person to his/her legal heirs.

They explained that presently, the process required legal heirs to approach the civil court concerned to obtain such letters/certificates but under the new bill, the entire process was proposed to be shifted to Nadra.
