Several injured in troops' action on protesters in Srinagar.

ISLAMABAD -- Several people were injured when Indian troops and police used brute force on peaceful protesters in Nowhatta area of Srinagar, today.

According to reporter, massive clashes broke out between protesting youth and Indian forces' personnel after Friday congregational prayers outside the historic Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta.

Witnesses said that the forces fired pellets and teargas to disperse the protesters, injuring several of them. They said that six youth were hit by pellets.

The clashes were going on when last reports came in.
