Rs157m released for parent-teacher bodies in Mohmand.

GHALANAI -- The district education department has released Rs157.28 million to the parent-teacher councils (PTCs) for provision of missing facilities and construction of boundary walls in different schools of Mohmand tribal district.

District education officer Jadi Khan Khalil said here the other day that of this amount Rs52.4 million would be spent on provision of drinking water in 262 schools and Rs98.4 million on construction of boundary walls in 82 schools.

He said that sports equipment would also be provided to children in 54 schools.

'All this money will be utilised through the PTCs, for which 537 such councils have already been set up in Mohmand tribal district,' he said.

The official said that even before this the Mohmand district education department had released a total of Rs55.88 million. He said that group latrines would be constructed in 264 schools.

He said that a good amount of funds would be spent on procurement of furniture and science and IT labs equipment besides solarisation of schools in the tribal district.

NFC OPPOSED: Awami National Party district president MPA Nisar Mohmand has expressed concern over formation of the 10th National Finance Commission (NFC), terming it unconstitutional and illegal.
