Robber injured in 'encounter'.

TOBA TEK SINGH -- A suspected robber was injured in an encounter with police at Gojra on Thursday morning.

A police spokesperson claimed that three robbers were fleeing on motorcycles after looting people in Gojra Saddar area.

He said the suspects came across a Gojra city police party on its check post at Geelani Chowk. On seeing the police, they opened indiscriminate fire on policemen which was also retaliated.

They fled towards Toba Road and a shootout took place near railway track. When guns went silent, police found one of them injured who was admitted to Gojra THQ hospital.

He was identified as Tanweer Umar Jat of Bihar Colony, Gojra. The spokesperson claimed that he was a notorious criminal involved in a number of robberies.
