Review of balance of trade, export and import.

According to the provisional figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the balance of trade in February 2022 was recorded (-)544,794 million in terms of Rupees and (-)3,087 million in US dollars. The balance of trade figures cumulative from July-February 2021-22 were (-)5,461,520 million in terms of Rupees and (-)31,946 million in US dollars. PBS also recorded that exports from Pakistan during February 2022 amounted to Rs. 497,602 million (provisional) as against to Rs. 460,856 million in January 2022 and Rs. 329,033 million during February 2021 explaining a rise of 7.97 percent over January 2022 and of 51.23 percent over February 2021. In terms of US dollars the exports in February 2022 were recorded $2,820 million (provisional) as against to $2,614 million in January 2022 explaining a rise of 7.88 percent and by 36.36 percent as against to $2,068 million in February 2021.

PBS also showed that exports during July-February 2021-22 totaled Rs. 3,520,242 million (provisional) as compared to Rs. 2,651,319 million during the same period of previous year showing an increase of 32.77 percent. In terms of US dollars the exports during July-February 2021-22 totaled $ 20,559 million (provisional) against $ 16,323 million during the same period of previous year explaining a rise of 25.95 percent. Furthermore, main commodities of exports during February 2022 were Knitwear (Rs. 73,131 million), Readymade garments (Rs. 62,500 million), Bed wear (Rs. 46,308 million), Cotton Cloth (Rs. 41,308 million), Rice Others (Rs.31,688 million), Cotton Yarn (Rs. 22,505 million), Towels (Rs. 17,782 million), Rice Basmati (Rs. 12,309 million), Madeup Articles (Excl. towels and bedwear) (Rs...
