Resumption of mens` cricket gives women players lot of hope: Bismah Maroof.

KARACHI -- Pakistan women`s cricket team captain Bismah Marooof on Monday said that it is very tough for the cricketers or sports-persons to stay home amid the Covid 19 pandemic and the current situation really pose a challenges for the players mentally.

Tall(ing in Dawn News, Bismah said its is unfortunate that because of Covid-19 pandemic almost the entire world is affected and all the routines of sports-persons are disturbed. `As a cricketer i really miss playing the game and and also my teammates with whom I used to practice regularly,` she said. `We never stay away from each that long and to be honest its really disturbing that we are not playing .

But we have to realize the situation and should adhere to all precautions. I am doing a bit of practice at the gym and at home but its never be same when we train at the ground.

It may be mentioned here that due to Covid 19 situation, the PCB had postponed one domestic women`s cricket tournament in April while the ICC World Cup Qualifiers were also postponed.

Bismah said at the moment she has no idea when international women`s cricket will resume. `But it is a great development that men`s cricket is all set to resume in England and i hope that it will lead to resumption of women`s cricket too,` said Bismah. `I dont knowwhen women`s cricket can make a return, its all depends on the pandemic situation. But with mens cricket resuming in England with West Indies and Pakistan tours there, I am hopeful that it will lead to the resumption of womens cricket too.

Bismah appreciated the PCB for arranging online sessions for women` cricketers with the legendary all-rounder Wasim Akram and Pakistan ODI and T20 captain Babar Azam. `It is great of PCB to keep us busy and motivated with these online sessions with Wasim Akram and Babar Azam and itprovedbe agoodfoodforthought for all us and later we all (women players) discussed the tips given in our own session,` said Bismah.`As captain i try to remain in touch with all my players and keep asking about their health and families and that is the only way to motivate the entire team,` she said.
