Residents protest young man's 'death in custody'.

LANDI KOTAL -- Enraged tribesmen on Monday blocked the Peshawar-Torkham Highway to protest the death of a young man allegedly caused by torture during custody of the security forces. The protesters had placed the body of the deceased on the road.

Family of Khatir Khan alleged that he died of torture during the custody of security forces. They said the body was handed over to them on Monday morning.

The relatives said Khatir Khan along with some local residents was picked up by the security forces after the killing of a soldier and injuring of three others in a landmine blast on Dec 19 in Khuna Kandaw area of Pasedkhel, close to the Afghan border.

A sizeable number of enraged Pasedkhel residents accompanied by family members of the deceased took the body to Charwazgai Chowk after it was handed over to them. They blocked the road while...
