RCB working on two car parks in Saddar.

RAWALPINDI -- The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has begun working on constructing two Car parks in Saddar, the commercial hub of the cantonment, that are supposed to be completed before Eidul Fitr.

Rawalpindi Corps Commander Lt Gen Azhar Abbas visited the site a few days ago and asked the civic authority to resolve parking problems in Saddar within the month of Ramazan.

Two sites have been selected to build Car parks that can accommodate more than 1,000 vehicles at a time. One site is 31 The Mall, between The Mall and Haider Road in front of Ciros Cinema, and the second is between Haider Road and Bank Road adjacent to the Metro Bus Command and Control Centre.

Additional Cantonment Executive Officer Faisal Munir Wattoo told Dawn that work on the two facilities has already begun, the ground has been levelled and the Car parks will be completed before Eidul Fitr.

'Corps Commander Lt Gen Azhar Abbas, Station Commander Brig Ijaz Qamar Kiani and Cantonment Executive Officer Umer Farooq wanted to use vacant land in the main commercial hub for public welfare and turned them into parking areas to reduce the traffic congestion,'...
