Punjab govt seeks police help in launching campaign to control food prices.

RAWALPINDI -- The Punjab government has sought help from police for launching a campaign to control prices, hoarding and smuggling of food items.

The food and agriculture department believes that the assistance of Punjab police was vital in the campaign.

According to sources, following the government's directives to provincial and district administrations to depute special teams to check hoarding, smuggling and prices of all essential kitchen items, Inspector General of Police Punjab Shoaib Dastagir has directed all divisional police chiefs to extend full cooperation with the concerned district authorities to chalk out a detailed programme to curb the menace of price hike, hoarding and smuggling of essential food commodities in their respective areas...
