Public-private partnership imperative to reform health sector, says special assistant.

ISLAMABAD -- Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Sunday said the government would provide a conducive environment to overseas doctors' organisations to encourage public-private partnership in the implementation of health reforms.

Speaking at the 10th 'International medical conference' organised by Medics International (MI) here, she said the government was ready to establish public-private partnerships with private sector organisations in the health sector mainly to restructure the health system and introduce technological transformations, an effective management system and a merit-based hiring and promotion system.

'Private organisations and overseas doctors will be provided a conducive working environment to safeguard the lives of poor people from chronic diseases. Such collaborations will be imperative to effectively implement the new health reforms across the country.'
