PU students protest cancellation of admission.

LAHORE -- Dozens of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) graduates on Monday held a demonstration outside the office of Punjab University vice chancellor against cancellation of their admission to different disciplines of master programmes.

Students, awaiting their graduation results, were allowed admission, fee vouchers issued and hostel rooms allotted.

They said they had been taking classes for one-and-a-half month until they received a notification from the university administration that their admissions have been cancelled.One of the protesters Usama Rana told

Dawn students had clearly mentioned their result status while submitting their details online admission portal of the university by August 26.

He said the result of the students of the BZU was announced on Aug 30 and they submitted their hard copy of the result in due date of the university which was Aug 31.Mr Rana said that earlier when they protested against the development, the administration assured them to solve their problem in a day or two.

He said if the university administration did not solve their problem, they would continue their protest.

'We did not have any other option as the admissions have been closed in public and private universities of the province,' he said.

Protesters say more than 90 students got admission citing expected results condition, and 41 of them had received cancellation orders.
