PTI seeks audit of funds released by Sindh govt to fight Covid-19.

KARACHI -- The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on Monday questioned the funds spent by the Sindh government in the name of coronavirus pandemic and demanded an independent audit of the funds released for the fight against Covid-19, casting doubts over the role of private hospitals and non-governmental organisations which it felt were being 'obliged' out of the way.

Addressing a press conference here, city president of the PTI MPA Khurram Sher Zaman said if the Sindh government failed to come up with answers his party had every right to take them to courts.

He also regretted the performance of the Sindh health system under the 12 consecutive years of PPP rule.

He also announced launching a campaign from the party platform for reforms in provincial healthcare system and in the first phase, hospitals of the province would be fixed which he said had been ruined by the PPP government.

'We are going to start a new campaign to fix hospitals in Sindh. We all know that the conditions of the Sindh hospitals are very bad. We will keep our campaign on till the hospitals get better,' he said.

He also questioned the government's spending on coronavirus and its funding to some private health facilities.

He also cast doubts over the role of the Indus Hospital, which he said was receiving 'massive funding' from the provincial government but not offering the services of that level.

'Billions of rupees are being given to hospitals continuously,' he said. 'So far Rs2.5 billion has been spent in the name of coronavirus pandemic. A huge amount of money was given to the Indus Hospital but unfortunately there are no facilities in any of the hospitals.
