PTI accuses Sindh IG Mahar of becoming PPP activist.

KARACHI -- The Sindh chapter of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf on Sunday accused the provincial police chief of behaving like an activist of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party in view of his allegedly supporting and honouring a Shikarpur feudal who was wanted in several cases of heinous crimes.

Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi of the PTI came up with different claims and showed 'documentary evidence' which suggested an alleged partial role of Sindh Inspector General of Police Mushtaq Mahar.

'The IG-Sindh is working as a worker and IG of the PPP,' he said while addressing a press conference along with other leaders of the party including parliamentary party head Haleem Adil Sheikh.

'Former SSP-Shikarpur Dr Rizwan Ahmed Khan had already issued a report against Sardar Tegho Khan Teghani but now a peace award is being given to him and it should be withdrawn. There are more than 40 FIRs registered against Sardar Tegho pertaining to murder and kidnapping for ransom.'

Opposition leader Naqvi rejects criticism of federal budget

Mr Naqvi said Sardar Tegho was involved in the killing of policemen. He accused provincial minister Imtiaz Shaikh as his close aide.

'Sardar Tegho was charged in 2019 for the murder of a DSP. He is known for several murders in his district including killings of 12 police officers. I request the chief justice of the Sindh High Court to take suo motu notice of this issue.'

Federal budget praised

Praising the federal budget presented by his party's government at the Centre, Mr Naqvi said the PPP was criticising the federal budget without knowing the facts.

He said the PPP had baffled over the facilities given to the poor and marginalised sections of the society by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

'Last year the federal government paid Rs1,500 billion for loans obtained by previous governments and this year Rs2,700 billion was paid in the same head. After giving the budget to the provinces, only Rs2,000...
