Protesters want impounded heavy vehicles returned.

LANDI KOTAL -- The owners of road construction machinery and vehicles in Bara have launched protest against confiscation of their heavy vehicles and other machinery by the security forces about a year ago.

They have established a protest camp outside Bara Press Club for the last four days to demand unconditional return of their vehicles and machinery.

They said that they lost their only source of earning due to its confiscation in March last year.

Talking to Dawn, Qayas Khan, the owner of a dumper vehicle, said that security forces impounded five dumpers, four pickup trucks, one excavator and two rollers on the pretext of having a monetary dispute with the contractor of an 18-kilometre road, linking Bara with Orakzai tribal district.

He said that contractor Fayaz Khan, a resident of Quetta, had since long abandoned the project and the contract was later awarded to another persons.

He said that the road was also completed but their machinery and vehicles were not returned to them.
