ALTHOUGH Pakistan has a rich heritage and wonderful tourist sights, it has failed to attract foreign tourists owing to the negative image portrayed abroad in the past.

While some tourism surveys make us optimist, we still lag far behind the countries that attract tourism.

Top tourism countries like France, Italy, Germany, the US, UK, China, Turkey, etc., have generated revenue through tourism, which also contributes to these countries' soft image.

There used to be a considerable amount of foreign direct investment in Pakistan which has tapered off. Even local investors have shied away from investment for security reasons.
